A knight in tarnished armor is still a knight.
When you’re a defense attorney in Washington, DC, you see firsthand how hard life can be, and that sometimes the only way to survive is to be harder. I, Jake Becker, have a reputation for being cold, callous, and intimidating—and that suits me just fine. In fact, it’s necessary when I’m breaking down a witness on the stand.
Complications don’t work for me—I’m a “need-to-know” type of man. If you’re my client, tell me the basic facts. If you’re my date, stick to what will turn you on. I’m not a therapist or Prince Charming—and I don’t pretend to be.
Then Chelsea McQuaid and her six orphaned nieces and nephews came along and complicated the ever-loving hell out of my life. Now I'm going to Mommy & Me classes, One Direction concerts, the emergency room, and arguing cases in the principal's office.
Chelsea’s too sweet, too innocent, and too gorgeous for her own good. She tries to be tough, but she’s not. She needs someone to help her, defend her…and the kids.
And that — that, I know how to do.
If I loved a lot Stanton Shaw... I don't have a better word for Jake Becker. I'm more in love with him than Stanton. He is just my Prince Charming, my knight in shining armor, my hero, my fucking everything... I want to be Chelsea, just so I can be with Jake. Plus, the kids are the best cutie pies.
When Chelsea finds herself wishing everything was a nightmare, Jake touches her door. When Jake thought dating was a thing he would never ever try again in his life, Chelsea appears in his life and he just want to try everything with her... even a family life. Raising six kids between the ages of six months and fifteen years old is not an easy task, even though Chelsea makes it look like it. Jake sees a woman in distress and he just needs to help, even more when Chelsea is everything his dick is asking for. Jake is nothing bad after all. But being a family man was not in Jake's dreams, can he push through?
I have always love these types of stories where the man actually is a hero, but a douche and funny at the same time. Jake has all the qualities of how I like my men in books. He is hawt, smart, a douche and a jerk when its needed in the story, driven, lovable, sweet and funny. He has the whole package, right? I need one of those in my life, for real and asap.
The story in general was way better than the first book, like three steps better. It did not gave me a headache like last one and it made me laugh even harder that my grandma actually wanted to know the joke, I couldn't stop laughing so I told her nothing. This was the best Emma Chase fix ever, but I'm a little scared how next book will be. Brent is not a bad dude, but I don't see myself reading his thoughts much. But I'll try and read it. I may laugh, because Emma's characters are hilarious, but I think I will not love it as much as I did with this one.
GUYS! Read this book, like seriously. You'll laugh a lot!
