t was a long time ago when I start seeing these books popping up in my feed on Goodreads, since then they have been in my TBR. So it has been a long time. Recently I have been trying to stumble upon books from back in the days and just read them. I have been getting this feeling of “why the hell did I not read this before?” so I guess I have been doing a good job.

That is exactly what happened with this series. I just finished N9ne and I have absolutely no regrets in reading them now that they are all out because some of these books ends were very fucked up for me waiting for the next one. I’m very grateful to stumble upon them when I did. All the drama is mostly set in Logan’s Beach, Florida, where there is a King, a Preppy, a Bear, and later on, a Prince named Nine. These books ripped my heart apart just to give it back with a few words little by little. I have a feeling that I might actually reread some of these books.

King is that, the motherfucking King. There is nothing much I can say to describe him. His backstory is hard, so that is the way he is a ruthless as he is. No one messes with King and lives to tell the tale. Unless you are Preppy, the diarrhea of things that comes out of that mofo is just unbelievable. But when a Jane Doe crashes his party, his room, and his thoughts… let say that this King might as well claim his Queen. Obviously, there is more than what meets the eye with Doe but too bad she remembers shit and when she does, damn, shit hit the fan as messy as a pig in a pen.

Bear is another story. Because King found his soulmate without looking for her. But, Bear, Bear found her young and never thought of her again. She, Thia, never stopped thinking about him and the promise he made her. So when the time came, Thia went straight to Bear. Cannot say that it was the right time for him after all the shit that went down with everything, but it was the right time for THEM. So Bear had to do the tough job, he had to get his head out of his ass.

Preppy’s story wrecked everything I have inside of me. Spoilers ahead. I swore up and down that he was dead and I almost couldn’t deal with it, so the chance to read a book of him was not on my list until at the end of Bear’s story he came crashing down on them. Preppy’s wife was just that for at least three years and no one knew about, only him. Dre is a powerful lady, let me tell you. That girl got to the lowest point, only to go back up for herself and, deep down, for him. Reading their story made me weep. I swear I’m still trying to get used to everything that happened in these three books.

Smoke is a really far away character that we see once in Preppy’s story, and then he just did that. He went up in smoke. Reading his story was easy, there was still heavy shit and my heart hurt how he came up to be who he is, but I enjoyed the ride. Frankie is smart. Like smarter than anyone smart. But she’s still in harm’s way and in so much shit that only Smoke can help her even though it doesn’t look like help in the beginning. I swear these two are one for the other.

Nine’s story is as heavy as Preppy’s backstory. These poor kids had it hard growing up, but finding out each other did them good. I was devastated reading about how he lost someone that would change his life for good when he knew that Preppy was dead. But losing her made him found himself and then his brother that wasn’t really dead. That whole scene is the MVP in both books (Preppy’s and Nine’s). Lenny’s story wasn’t my favorite, but these two together were the bomb. That plot twist in almost the end gave me chills.

The bonus epilogue at the end of N9ne of him receiving the key of the kingdom and becoming the prince give me seriously good vibes that I wanted to cry. This series is going down with me for a long time. I swear you will not regret reading these.

I have been obsessing these days reading MC books, so I really thought that I needed a breather and this series caught my eye a long time ago… I guess I took the leap and read this book, the first, Betrayal.

The story of Alex Collins, who has a longer name but I really will get tired by writing it, is definitely a still confusing for me. I’m trying to pierce thins together with the little I have read about her. But the biggest mystery is Nox, who we do not know his last name till the end of the book. They made the rule of not knowing anything about themselves while they were in Del Mar together for that week. A very marked regret from both sides, I’m sure.

Usually, I hate the back and forth between past and present, so I was totally annoying to find how this book was structured. But I think the suspense happening in one time with the other things happening in another part of the storyline keep me in check, and reading. I have to confess that reading it from Alex’s POV was a little exasperating because she thinks more than she says, which is totally not me in real life. So I totally hated when people bulldoze everything she actually had to say.

It really threw me off the whole Infidelity company when the time came up, but it did not surprise me that Nox was going to be totally into it. This will get interesting and I’m totally in for the next twists. Something I have to learn shortly starting this book is that every twist connects and sometimes you will not even notice one is coming. I yearn to learn more about Nox and read more his side of the story in the next books that I will read right away.

Have I been Aleatha’d? Certainly. Should you? Hell yeah.

I’m still a little fucked up after reading these books. A week has passed and I can barely digest reading the mind of a killer. Not that she, Deanna Madden, was a bad person like other killers are. Just that her line of thinking makes you see her as a human more than a monster.

Deanna has cruorimania (obsession with murder) and a little of anthropophobia (fear of human interaction. So when she knew everything was going downhill, she became a recluse. She “locked" herself up in an apartment and all the human interaction she has received in three years is through a door and through a webcam. I have to clarify that her door is not locked because she wants people to enter so she can have the reason to kill. The only people who would love to enter are Jeremy, the UPS guy, and Simon, the neighbor that locks her up every night. Let’s say that only one of them can enter without actually being murdered.

She has rules, of course. She cannot leave the apartment, she cannot lure anyone into entering her home, and she cannot under any circumstance kill anyone. Rules that obviously get all broken when one of her internet clients go a little too far and risks the life of an innocent child named Annie. Deanna is not a cruel killer, but let’s say that killing a bad guy cannot be considered a bad thing to do, right? That’s how Deanna’s story of killing starts after the first time she did it.

For a series about a person that is constantly thinking about murdering people, there’s a total number of three people death by her hand, kind of low, if you think about it.

I enjoyed the different POVs, except Marcus. I hated that Jeremy wouldn’t take the things that Deanna said seriously. I hated that Deanna wouldn’t be as truthful with him until the end. And I totally hated that Simon was the one who set them apart, and hence why I disliked the end of book three. There is no way that anyone would like an end like that, but after days soaking it, I accepted it.

It was a short read, the whole series, very perturbing, but perfect enough to keep me going until I detest how it ended. All that said, I really recommend the series. There should be more books, but alas, if wishes were fishes. That’s my piece.

I am mindblown. I have no other description of what I felt after reading these books, so I’ll stick it to mindblown. If you want to feel like I am, read these books if not, you are better off. Believe me. I seriously think I shouldn’t have read these, but I did and I cannot turn back the clock.

The blurbs of these books are very vague, so if you start the book you are thrown into an unknown story. The story keeps saying “go back to the beginning”, but I seriously do not know where is that. What can I actually tell you? The main character is Calla Elizabeth Price. And something is wrong, she knows it, we know it, but we (as in us and her) don’t know what IT IS. Reality is overrated and history always repeat itself.

I had a hard time trying to follow the actual story. The end is inconclusive because it does not end, it just goes back to the beginning. I have to admit that everything was beautifully written, but it is not my cup of tea (pun intended). I was way better off without reading this book. Now my mind is a little screwed up. I need to forget these as soon as possible.

If you don’t like my rambling of these books I suggest, you don’t read them either. What is up, is actually down, and what is down, is actually right… and so on. Nothing makes sense and the end of the story is up to you, which is a nightmare, for me, to end a story like that. Whatever, the thing is that I rated it as low as I did because I did not like everything came up to be. Otherwise, the books would be five stars because everything was very well thought. Up to you, really, if you wanna read them.
