I started my senior year on university and it may be tricky to read a lot like I love, so I read everything I could this month because there will be months that I will be lacking. Sure you understand because everyone has lives outside of books. I wish you the best in your challenges. Plus, I hope to read a LOT of fantasy in February because is Fantasy February and I want to read a couple of adult romances because, well, love's month. Do you have a wrap-up too? Let me see!

[R] No Place to Fall, by: Jaye Robin Brown

No Place to Fall
by: Jaye Robin Brown

★★★★☆

Amber Vaughn is a good girl. She sings solos at church, babysits her nephew after school, and spends every Friday night hanging out at her best friend Devon’s house. It’s only when Amber goes exploring in the woods near her home, singing camp songs with the hikers she meets on the Appalachian Trail, that she feels free—and when the bigger world feels just a little bit more in reach.

When Amber learns about an audition at the North Carolina School of the Arts, she decides that her dream—to sing on bigger stages—could also be her ticket to a new life. Devon’s older (and unavailable) brother, Will, helps Amber prepare for her one chance to try out for the hypercompetitive arts school. But the more time Will and Amber spend together, the more complicated their relationship becomes . . . and Amber starts to wonder if she’s such a good girl, after all.

Then, in an afternoon, the bottom drops out of her family’s world—and Amber is faced with an impossible choice between her promise as an artist and the people she loves. Amber always thought she knew what a good girl would do. But between “right” and “wrong,” there’s a whole world of possibilities.

February Favorites Giveaway Hop!

February is the month of Love or at least that's how we think whenever we think of February. So, when I saw the Favorites Giveaway Hop up in Stuck In Books blogs, I had to enter. Anyway, I haven't made a giveaway in a long while, so why not in Valentine's Day?

As you can see, the theme is to giveaway a favorite book. I chose Lola & the Boy Next Door. It's the perfect match! Its contemporary, it has romance and is one of my many favorites, so win win win.

by: Stephanie Perkins

Lola Nolan is a budding costume designer, and for her, the more outrageous, sparkly, and fun the outfit, the better. And everything is pretty perfect in her life (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood. When Cricket, a gifted inventor, steps out from his twin sister's shadow and back into Lola's life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.

Lola is the second book in a trilogy, but I assure you that it doesn't matter if you read this one before the first. I really loved these books, but definitely this book is my favorite. You can read my review here.

[R] The Darkest Part of the Forest, by: Holly Black

The Darkest Part of the Forest
by: Holly Black

★★★★★

Children can have a cruel, absolute sense of justice. Children can kill a monster and feel quite proud of themselves. A girl can look at her brother and believe they’re destined to be a knight and a bard who battle evil. She can believe she’s found the thing she’s been made for.

Hazel lives with her brother, Ben, in the strange town of Fairfold where humans and fae exist side by side. The faeries’ seemingly harmless magic attracts tourists, but Hazel knows how dangerous they can be, and she knows how to stop them. Or she did, once.

At the center of it all, there is a glass coffin in the woods. It rests right on the ground and in it sleeps a boy with horns on his head and ears as pointed as knives. Hazel and Ben were both in love with him as children. The boy has slept there for generations, never waking.

Until one day, he does…

As the world turns upside down, Hazel tries to remember her years pretending to be a knight. But swept up in new love, shifting loyalties, and the fresh sting of betrayal, will it be enough?

Dear Girls Above Me:
Inspired by a True Story
by: Charlie McDowell

★★★★★

Based on the wildly popular Twitter feed Dear Girls Above Me, a roman à clef about how thinking like a couple of girls turned one single guy into a better man.

When Charlie McDowell began sharing his open letters to his noisy upstairs neighbors—two impossibly ditzy female roommates in their mid-twenties—on Twitter, his feed quickly went viral. His followers multiplied and he got the attention of everyone from celebrities to production studios to major media outlets such as Time and Glamour. Now Dear Girls breaks out of the 140-character limit as Charlie imagines what would happen if he put the wisdom of the girls to the test.

After being unceremoniously dumped by the girl he was certain was “the one,” Charlie realized his neighbors’ conversations were not only amusing, but also offered him access to a completely uncensored woman’s perspective on the world. From the importance of effectively Facebook-stalking potential girlfriends and effortlessly pulling off pastel, to learning when in the early stages of dating is too presumptuous to bring a condom and how to turn food poisoning into a dieting advantage, the girls get Charlie into trouble, but they also get him out of it—without ever having a clue of their impact on him.

Waiting on Wednesday [4]

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:
 I'll Meet You There
by: Heather Demetrios

If seventeen-year-old Skylar Evans were a typical Creek View girl, her future would involve a double-wide trailer, a baby on her hip, and the graveyard shift at Taco Bell. But after graduation, the only thing standing between straightedge Skylar and art school are three minimum-wage months of summer. Skylar can taste the freedom—that is, until her mother loses her job and everything starts coming apart. Torn between her dreams and the people she loves, Skylar realizes everything she’s ever worked for is on the line.

Nineteen-year-old Josh Mitchell had a different ticket out of Creek View: the Marines. But after his leg is blown off in Afghanistan, he returns home, a shell of the cocksure boy he used to be. What brings Skylar and Josh together is working at the Paradise—a quirky motel off California’s dusty Highway 99. Despite their differences, their shared isolation turns into an unexpected friendship and soon, something deeper.

I don't know about you, but MacTeenBooks has trying to made me crazy posting everyday a quote or something about this book. So its making me wanting it even more. It comes out on February 3th, so can the next month come faster? What book are you waiting on?

[R] Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, by: Bejamin Alire Saénz

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
by: Bejamin Alire Saénz

★★★★★

A lyrical novel about family and friendship from critically acclaimed author Benjamin Alire Sáenz.

Aristotle is an angry teen with a brother in prison. Dante is a know-it-all who has an unusual way of looking at the world. When the two meet at the swimming pool, they seem to have nothing in common. But as the loners start spending time together, they discover that they share a special friendship—the kind that changes lives and lasts a lifetime. And it is through this friendship that Ari and Dante will learn the most important truths about themselves and the kind of people they want to be.

#TreesOfReverieReadAThon [Day 3 & Wrap-Up]

TreesofReverie 72 HR Read-A-Thon
24th - 26th January 2015 | Host by: Tress of Reverie

Goalread as much you can
Read Today: 0 books
Total Books Read: 3 books
Pages Read: 27 pages
Total Pages Read: 920 pages

Reading:
○ The Darkest Part of the Forest, by Holly Black [page 27]

Books Read & Its Reviews:
○ Love Is a Many Trousered Thing, by Louise Rennison [271 pages]
○ Stop in the Name of Pants!, by Louise Rennison [286 pages]
○ Are These My Basoomas I See Before Me?, by Louise Rennison [336 pages]

My day was sooooo LAME! I read only 27 pages of The Darkest Part of the Forest, because that's what I could before some show [Once Upon a Time] pop out by itself (not) in the computer and I watched two episodes of it on my actually free time. The excuse is so lame, I know, but its what (not) actually happened. *winks* Now, the challenge of today:

Happy Australia Day!
Create a wishlist of books written by Australian authors.
Create a wishlist of books that are written by Australian authors. Your wishlist may be an already existing list or you may wish to create a new one. All books featured on the list must be written by Australian authors. Why did you choose these books? Is there anything that you’d like to share about any of these books or authors?
  • Marcus Zusak
    • The Book Thief
    • I Am the Messenger
  • Graeme Simsion
    • The Rosie Project
    • The Rosie Effect
  • Melina Marchetta
    • On the Jellicoe Road
    • Saving Franchesca
    • Looking for Alibrandi
  • ML Stedman
    • The Light Between Oceans
  • Liane Moriarty
    • What Alice Forgot
  • Brooke Davis
    • Lost & Found
I don't actually have read anything written from an Australian author, which its sad because I should. I chose these books because some of them are in my TBR pile and the other are very popular in goodreads, so I may give them a try. Happy Australia Day, people!

#TreesOfRiverieReadAThon [Day 2]

My TRUE goal was to finish at least TWO books in this read-a-thon, but I just out done myself and I read THREE. If its goes well, I my finish this read-a-thon with FOUR read books. Now, the challenge of today:

Which book would you love to see a film adaptation for?
Choose a book that has NOT already had a film adaptation created or has NOT got one currently planned for the future. (There is no restriction on when the book was published.) Why have you selected this book? Is it one of your favourite books? What about this book would you love to see in a film? Do you have any particular actors or actresses that you’d like to see in the adaptation? Are there any locations that you’d love them to film at? Is there anything that you’d like to share about this book or its potential film adaptation?
My pick would be Shatter Me trilogy, by Tahareh Mafi. She is a very very good writer and her books would be such a cool idea for a movie. Its totally one of my favorite series so far! I would love to meet the characters [on-screen] and see every little scene between Warner and Juliette. I do not have a cast, because I like surprises, but Jennifer Lawrence would be an excellent Juliette, don't you think? If you haven't read the books I assure you that they are very very GOOD and I loved them so much that I know you will do too!
Let's see how well I do tomorrow!

Review-A-ThonS [Day 3 & Wrap-Up]

The weekend is ending today and so is one of my review-a-thons, but I still have another one and the read-a-thon too. I'm still too lazy to make two posts [even if its a wrap-up], because anyway I will post the same reviews I have done today, so still winwin. I survived one, so I hope to survive the others. As you can see so, everything went crickey. In the following week I will be reviewing more books for the other review-a-thon and of course, read more for the read-a-thon [which progress is in another post]. I love that I met my goal, yay for me!

[R] Are These My Basoomas I See Before Me?, by: Louise Rennison

Are These My Basoomas I See Before Me?
(Confessions of Georgia Nicolson #10)
by: Louise Rennison

★★★★☆

For Georgia, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Just when she thought she was the official one-and-only girlfriend of Masimo, he's walked off into the night with the full hump, leaving Georgia all aloney on her owney-again. All because Dave the Laugh tried to do fisticuffs at dawn with him! Two boys fighting over Georgia? It's almost as romantic as Romeo and Juliet . . . though perhaps a touch less tragic. It's time for Georgia to get to the bottom (oo-er) of this Dave the Laugh spontaneous puckering business once and for all. It's like they always say: If you snog a mate in the forest of red bottomosity and no one is around to see it, is he still a mate? Or is he something more?

[R] Stop in the Name of Pants!, by: Louise Rennison

Stop in the Name of Pants!
(Confessions of Georgia Nicolson #9)
by: Louise Rennison

★★★★★

Time to gird the loins and pucker up.

Blimey O'Reilly's trousers! When Georgia embraced being the girlfriend of a Rock Legend/Luurve God, she thought that was the end of her lovenosity woes. As usual, Georgia is the last to know what she is talking about. Now there's the small matter of a snogging accident involving her matey-type mate Dave the Laugh and some toasted newts in her undercrackers. Can Georgia lock up her red bottom and throw away the key?

[R] Cress, by Marissa Meyer

Cress
(The Lunar Chronicles #3)
by: Marissa Meyer

★★★★★

In this third book in the Lunar Chronicles, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.

Their best hope lies with Cress, a girl imprisoned on a satellite since childhood who's only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker. Unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

When a daring rescue of Cress goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing prevent her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only hope the world has.

Love Is a Many Trousered Thing, by Louise Rennison

Actually, I was supposed to make a TBR list, but I cannot, because I wasn't that ready for this read-a-thon, so I did not knew. I read this book from page one to the last in one sitting today. It was a lame day for reading and reviewing. My TRUE goal is to finish at least two books in this read-a-thon, but if I do more than that, I will be very very happy. Now, the challenge of today:

Create some book spine poetry!
Create a poem using a minimum of three books. There is no maximum. You must use all of the words in the title of the book towards your poem. The poem does not have to rhyme or make sense. If you are struggling to create a poem, you may use one free word of your choice for each book that features in your poem. The word can be anything that you’d like and can feature in any part of your poem.

don't look back to the city of heavenly fire!
if i stay, just for now, it will shatter me easy more than thisthese lies beneath that aren't gone.

Do you like my "poem" that doesn't rhyme, but I kind of like?

[R] Love Is a Many Trousered Thing, by: Louise Rennison

Love Is a Many Trousered Thing
(Confessions of Georgia Nicolson #8)
by: Louise Rennison

★★★★☆

The nub and gist is that I have accidentally acquired two Luuurve Gods.

Oh my giddy god! Georgia has somehow landed back in the cakeshop of agony now that Robbie the Sex God has returned and she has three potential snoggees. What's a proper girl to do? Hide, of course, and hope that she will be able to choose one before she ends up all aloney on her owney.

Murder, abductions, and forbidden romance abound in this thrilling sequel to Sara B. Larson's acclaimed YA debut, DEFY.

Alexa remains by the newly crowned King Damian’s side as his guard, ever committed to helping him rebuild Antion and reclaim the hope of Antion's people, despite continuing to harbor a secret love for him. Love ignites in the City That Never Sleeps, but can it last?

Hopeless romantic Isla has had a crush on introspective cartoonist Josh since their first year at the School of America in Paris. And after a chance encounter in Manhattan over the summer, romance might be closer than Isla imagined. But as they begin their senior year back in France, Isla and Josh are forced to confront the challenges every young couple must face, including family drama, uncertainty about their college futures, and the very real possibility of being apart.

Featuring cameos from fan-favorites Anna, Étienne, Lola, and Cricket, this sweet and sexy story of true love—set against the stunning backdrops of New York City, Paris, and Barcelona—is a swoonworthy conclusion to Stephanie Perkins’s beloved series.

Alexa Hollen is a fighter. Forced to disguise herself as a boy and serve in the king's army, Alex uses her quick wit and fierce sword-fighting skills to earn a spot on the elite prince's guard. But when a powerful sorcerer sneaks into the palace in the dead of night, even Alex, who is virtually unbeatable, can't prevent him from abducting her, her fellow guard and friend Rylan, and Prince Damian, taking them through the treacherous wilds of the jungle and deep into enemy territory.

The longer Alex is held captive with both Rylan and the prince, the more she realizes that she is not the only one who has been keeping dangerous secrets. And suddenly, after her own secret is revealed, Alex finds herself confronted with two men vying for her heart: the safe and steady Rylan, who has always cared for her, and the dark, intriguing Damian. I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH! I will post a review of it later when I have all my thoughts together, because it was that good. The sequel is even better, so I really recommend it. The following scene when Prince Damian finally says what he truly feels for Alexa for the first time. SWOON! If happens a little after an attack in the jungle, in where he "saves" her life.
He took one last step so that our bodies touched. I could feel him everywhere - our legs, out hips, out stomachs. "I've made mistakes. So many I can't even count. But saving you was not one of them."His thumbs rubbed across my jaw. I started into his eyes, my heart in my throat. For that breathless moment, there was no sound, no time, nothing beyond his body against mine and his hands on my face. I wanted him to kiss me, I wanted it more than I wanted air, but the tiny part of my brain that was still functioning knew this was wrong. Impossible.I tried to pull away, but he dropped one of his hands to wrap his arm around my body, pressing me to him, refusing to let me break away."But I'm not-""You're perfect," he said roughly, cutting off my protest. "And if I had to do it over again, I would save you every time."His mouth closed over mine and there was no more thought. No more worry. No more pain or loss or fear. There was only Damian. His arm tightened around me, crushing me to him, his other hand threaded through my hair. I clung to him as his lips moved on mine with a need and hunger that nearly overwhelmed me [...]"Alexa," he whispered against my skin. "Do you have any idea what you're doing to me? I've never needed anyone the way I need you."
If you tell me that you didn't swoon over Damian, my girl friend, you are bad. Once again, I really recommend the series (which there still a book to be release). Tell me your swoon scene!

 Fairest
(Lunar Chronicles)
by: Marissa Meyer

In this stunning bridge book between Cress and Winter in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles, Queen Levana’s story is finally told.

Mirror, mirror on the wall,
Who is the fairest of them all?

Fans of the Lunar Chronicles know Queen Levana as a ruler who uses her “glamour” to gain power. But long before she crossed paths with Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress, Levana lived a very different story – a story that has never been told . . . until now. .

I don't know about you, but I'm pretty excited about this book. HELLO! Is Queen Levana's story. Even though is scary to imagine her real face, I'm totally curious to know everything. Maybe we will read about eveything about her sister, how she became queen and even little things about Winter.
What are you waiting on?
