[R] Beautiful Disaster & more, by: Jamie McGuire

Beatiful Disaster
(Beautiful #1)
by: Jamie McGuire

★★★★★

Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby wants—and needs—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

[Short Review] A Beautiful Dark, by: Jocelyn Davies

A Beautiful Dark
(A Beautiful Dark #1)
by: Jocelyn Davies

★★★★½

On the night of Skye’s seventeenth birthday, she meets two enigmatic strangers. Complete opposites—like fire and ice—Asher is dark and wild, while Devin is fair and aloof. Their sudden appearance sends Skye’s life into a tailspin. She has no idea what they want, or why they seem to follow her every move—only that their presence coincides with a flurry of strange events. Soon she begins to doubt not just the identity of the two boys, but also the truth about her own past.

In the dead of a bitingly cold Colorado winter, Skye finds herself coming to terms with the impossible secret that threatens to shatter her world. Torn between Asher, who she can’t help falling for, and Devin, who she can’t stay away from, the consequences of Skye’s choice will reach further than the three of them could ever imagine.

My first thought when I finished this book was: “I didn’t even know that this book was so awesome! Why didn’t I chose it before?” This book is just that good.

How to summarize this book? Well, our main character is Skye Parker. Who became orphaned after her sixth birthday when the car where her parents were crashed. She was adopted by her mom’s best friend, Jo, which Skye always called Aunt Jo. After her seventeenth birthday, things change. There are two new boys in town and in her life. Asher and Devin. Which are totally opposites, Asher is totally a rebel, when Devin is a “zen” boy. True is that Skye is not a normal girl. Things are getting out of control around her and with her. Maybe this two boys are more that they are telling.
“It’s a misconception that you need a heart to love.”
A supernatural story that more than a love story becomes a live-or-death situation. I really couldn’t stop reading it, I just need to know more. I’m not saying that it was confusing as hell, because believe me it was. It was kind of dizzy trying to solve everything out. I enjoy the characters, plot and even the point of view. It’s an easy reading, it goes fast and, well, it leaves you hanging in the air after the end. Which I hate, but I’m totally glad that the next book is out and in my hands. Let’s see what the author have for us in the next book.
“We were past the clouds, into the beautiful dark.”
You should read it.
