[R] City of Bones, by: Cassandra Clare

City of Bones
(The Mortal Instruments #1)
by: Cassandra Clare

5 of 5 stars

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing -- not even a smear of blood -- to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .

my thoughts

First of all, yes, that's the new cover for the book. Based on the movie and its really awesome. I'm so exited about it! So, you should read this before before watching the movie.

Okay now my review! As you may have heard. The story is very awesome and perfect. The glorious Cassandra Clare is their author and certainly is perfect.

Anyway, the story spins around Clary and Jace worlds. Which are different, but united. "All the stories are true." That its very true in this book. After Clary being confroted with shadowhunters in Pandemonium Club, she is notified that her mom is kidnapped by "they don't know who, but certainly we know". Clary enters in the shadowhunter world, because she is one. Wow! (not that surprising, right?) She enters to the world of vampires, werewolves, demons and fairies, but not alone. Her best friend, Simon, which is only a mundane (someone from the human world). Simon and Clary with all her new shadohunters "friends" begin the search of her mom and at the same time trying to stop Valentine.

I will not tell more. Too many spoilers for you!

I will tell you a story now. This is how City of Bones presented itself in front of me.
I buy this book on the Atlanta airport. I was really bored and without internet access, so I begged to my grandpa to buy me a book. He said: "okay, choose the one you want. but be careful, if you don't like it, is not my fault. you choose it." I wander all the store finding the correct book. In those days, I was looking to read the Fifty Shades Trilogy, but when my eye caught the City of Bones cover (more like Jace without shirt). I said: "that's the one!" I went to pay for it and I remember asking the girl behind the cash register: "is this book the first of the series, right?" and she nodded and looked me like, "you are not seriously asking me that, right?" So begin the journey of open the book and read the first chapter. I was so in it, that my grandpa was calling me to aboard the airplane and I didn't notice, until someone said like: "you girl, with the cassandra clare book." (i didn't even know the author of the book, so i didn't look) "the shadowhunter one!" (that caught my attention and i look up) "yes, you! the airplane is going without you." I was so off that I almost leave my laptop there. When I got beside my grandpa he said: "i think you got the right book." And I was like: "you have no idea."
That day... I never came back to be me again. I explored that whole new world for that long week. Because after finishing City of Bones, I continue with the other ones, including City of Lost Souls and I was so off me that finished like that. That I just really wanted to read the next one, until I saw that it was coming out in 2014. Ugh. Then I begin with Divergent, but that's another story.
You see, City of Bones was just too amazing, that I almost loose my fly back home. I recommend reading it in the house, because is more safe. Hahaha... Still, the best books I have ever read and I don't regret crying all over of it. Like all active readers, we suffer the characters problems and situations and we sleep happy with a good ending. But obviously sad because it end.

READ THE BOOK!
