A lesson in loyalty - A master class in intrigue

Yelena is a survivor. Kidnapped as a child, held prisoner as a teen, then released to act as a poison taster, she is now a student of magic. But these magic skills place her in imminent danger, and with an execution order on her head, she has no choice but to escape to Sitia, the land of birth. But nothing in Sitia is familiar. As she struggles to understand where she belongs and how to control her powers, a rogue magician emerges - and Yelena catches his eye. Suddenly she is embroiled in a situation not of her making. And once again her magical abilities will either save her life... or be her downfall.

Let's begin of how wonderful this book was. IT WAS! So much action, magic, love, evil and well, feels. Do I need to warn you that this review have spoilers? Maybe not, if they are here... they are not that juicy to spoil you something big. Still, you have been warned.

SO... the book begins when Yelena finally arrives to the Zaltana homested. She meets her family, but not everyone is happy about her arrive. Her older and only brother, Leif, has serious trouble with her. He believes that she is a spy and he tries to make her bad things (you know, the common things: kidnapped, torture, kill... and save her). That's the drill between brother and sister, right?

I can tell that in the first 18 chapters (aprox) Valek do not appear for real. In all those chapters he only appear in dreams or when she is in danger, to give her strenght and lovely thoughts. The lovely thing is that he is always there for her and that is so romantic! I ship Yelek (my ship name for Yelena and Valek) so much that it really hurts. I wish they could be happy at the end of all this series.

A new enemy! That's correct. Its a new magician, which is related with Mogkan (aka, Kangom). He only wants power, power and power. Why is the antagonist whant that or vengance? I can't think for other motives, so that's okay for me. Still, Yelena always follow the trouble, so she is in the middle of everything... again! Could she suceed this time?

Plus, we have like a sneak peek of the next antagonist. Which is not that powerful, but he really promise to kill Yelena and Valek when he finds the power and the sources. Not new, right? *sighs* Poor, Cahil.

I recommend this book if you really like fantasy, magic and all that stuff. If you don't then... why you read this review? Maybe you love my reviews, but I'm not that optimist.
xoxo, sam.
