(Vampire Academy #1)

5 of 5 stars
St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...
Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.
my thoughts
This book became very easily one of my favorites. Its not really hard for me being caught up with a book, but when I really do, I cannot put the book down. This book... I begin reading it one night like at 9pm or something like that, and then boom! I finished... it was like 2am or something when I finally finish it. I really really loved it and I still do, maybe someday I will re-read.
So, the main character is Rose Hathaway, who as you know is a Dhampir (a mix between Moroi and Human or another Dhampir), and she is totally a bad ass! Like one of those chicks that if you mess with her or with one of her love ones, you should run because you are screwed, but like really screwed. In this book, she don't know her father and her mother is a Guard who doesn't give a shit about her (yes, that change later). Her best friend, Valissa Dragomir (aka Lissa), needs protection, but Rose doesn't know exactly of what or who... or at least not at the begining. Lissa don't family a family, because they died, so Rose is the only one that can help her.
Rose and Lissa escapes from St. Vladimir Academy and live in their own for some time. Until Dimitri Belicov (another Dhampir and St. Vladimir's Guard) found them and brings them to the academy. Rose is nearly expelled, but he interfered saying that she was a good guard and he will train her to be update with her class. And in that momment, love at first sight, or more like at first fight?
After all this stuff happened, Rose and Lissa becomes friends of Christian Ozera (which is very hot and is a Fire user). Also, they find their old friends, like Mason, and old enemies too. Also, Rose become very aware of Lissa's powers (they are quite different to the rest of the Moroi). But the most scary situation is that the Strigoi (the dark and evil vampires) are attacking Moroi more often and Rose suspects that they are becoming like a society. They want to hit big... so, what will Rose do? She certainly need to save Lissa over all.
Do I recommend it? OF COURSE!
Wow! I haven't read this one either...
