Prentisstown isn't like other towns. Everyone can hear everyone else's thoughts in an overwhelming, never-ending stream of Noise. Just a month away from the birthday that will make him a man, Todd and his dog, Manchee -- whose thoughts Todd can hear too, whether he wants to or not -- stumble upon an area of complete silence. They find that in a town where privacy is impossible, something terrible has been hidden -- a secret so awful that Todd and Manchee must run for their lives.
But how do you escape when your pursuers can hear your every thought?
my thoughts
This book... this effing perfect and broken heart book. You, my friend Patrick Ness, are an excellent author, there is no doubt about that. But you make my heart want to destroy himself with so many deaths. I will not say who die here, because I don't want to spoil anyone. But prepare your heart for the feels and your eyes for the tears.
The story of Todd Hewitt is very very special. His mom and dad long time ago. In the present, he is almost thirdteen which is the age establish by the mayor to become a man. He is the most young of all the boys. There is no women, nor girl in the whole city. Plus, there is something called Noise, which is all the thoughts that are inside your head. Every man has his own Noise.
Then, bam! He finds a girl... she doesn't speak to him and he cannot hear her Noise, he only hears her silence. He must escape from his city, because if not he will be killed. In his escape, he finds again the girl and both escape the Mayor and his soldiers.
The story doesn't end there. Finally, when they find the next settlement/city, he discovers that being from his town (Prentisstown) is dangerous for him. The girl name is Viola Eade, by the way. Their stories became one in so many ways that they travel almost the whole planet in search of the capital city, Haven. The problem is that the Mayor Army is becoming more big and bloody. They have kill almost everyone in their way, every settlement has been destroy and who doesn't join their army will be killed.
Now, could Todd and Viola arrive to Haven without being killed? Will the army be stopped? Is Haven their best choice or the only one? I leave you with this questions. Read the book and answer them.
I completely agree with you.
