[R] 13 Reasons Why, by: Jay Asher

Thirteen Reasons Why
by: Jay Asher

4 of 5 stars

Clay Jensen returns home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers thirteen cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker, his classmate and crush who committed suicide two weeks earlier.

On tape, Hannah explains that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Clay is one of them. If he listens, he'll find out how he made the list.

my thoughts
Four stars, that's it. No more, no less. I cannot afford to give the book less, because it is an excellent story, but I cannot rated with five stars, because it made me suffer and not in the good way. This book made me face my old memories, the time when I was bullied.

Anyway, the book is basically telling the story of Hannah Baker. A girl who took her life away (suicide), but no one never knew why. Until now. Fourteen people were chosen by her to hear her reasons. Thirteen of those people were her reasons. These are established in 7 tapes that she recorded days before her final decision of take her life. The main character, Clay Jensen, is one of the chosen and obviously one of the reasons.

Wait, I said fouteen, but there are only thirteen reasons. Well, someone must deliever the mysterious box with the 7 tapes to the correct people. That was the job of Tony.

Now, Clay had a forever crush with Hannah and after this, how he will feel? That's something you must discover. But, you are warned! This book make people remmember old things. Such as my bullies experiences, which was not fun and very sad to remmember. I really don't know if I recommend the book, but certainly I cannot say that I don't recommend it, just be careful with it.

  1. Yes this one here is one hell of a story.
I read it, i felt it, i lived it.
Though i don't have any such bullying experiences, i was not much affected. But it helped me realise the consequences of bullying. I was so broken when i finished it... Its kind of an eye opener.
