[Short Review] Rush, by: Maya Banks

Rush
(Breathless #1)
by: Maya Banks

★★★★★

Gabe, Jace, and Ash: three of the wealthiest, most powerful men in the country. They’re accustomed to getting anything they want. Anything at all. For Gabe, it’s making one particular fantasy come true with a woman who was forbidden fruit. Now she’s ripe for the picking...

When Gabe Hamilton saw Mia Crestwell walk into the ballroom for his hotel’s grand opening, he knew he was going to hell for what he had planned. After all, Mia is his best friend’s little sister. Except she’s not so little anymore. And Gabe has waited a long time to act on his desires.

Gabe has starred in Mia’s fantasies more than once, ever since she was a teenager with a huge crush on her brother’s best friend. So what if Gabe’s fourteen years older? Mia knows he’s way out of her league, but her attraction has only grown stronger with time. She’s an adult now, and there’s no reason not to act on her most secret desires.

As Gabe pulls her into his provocative world, she realizes there’s a lot she doesn’t know about him or how exacting his demands can be. Their relationship is intense and obsessive, but as they cross the line from secret sexual odyssey to something deeper, their affair runs the risk of being exposed—and vulnerable to a betrayal far more intimate than either expected.

Well, Maya Banks do it again. She rolled me inside this book for quite some time. I didn't read it that fast because of reasons, but whenever I had time... there I was, inside the book like a fly flying to the flame.

Just like I love it... dominate kinky billionaires that will do everything to have what they want. Gabe Hamilton and company were just how my doctor ask me to have. This book only focus in Gabe and I was not disappointed with the story neither the characters or anything. I loved every second of it. The combination between Christian Grey from Fifty Shades of Grey and Graves Buchanan from Claimed by Him. Why did I compare Gabe with those two? Simple. He have all the kinky things of Christian Grey, including a contract and all. But he have the same problem that Graves had, about their best friend little sister. Obviously, Gabe is unique in some things, but I loved him.

I know that people hated this book or didn't finish it when they were reading, but I love it and other people did too. So take that in consideration. Begin with the book and if you don't like it, its okay, but if you do... continue it and you will love it as much as I did.

The Elite
(The Selection #2)
by: Kiera Cass

★★★★★

Thirty-five girls came to the palace to compete in the Selection. All but six have been sent home. And only one will get to marry Prince Maxon and be crowned princess of Iléa.

America still isn’t sure where her heart lies. When she’s with Maxon, she’s swept up in their new and breathless romance, and can’t dream of being with anyone else. But whenever she sees Aspen standing guard around the palace, and is overcome with memories of the life they planned to share. With the group narrowed down to the Elite, the other girls are even more determined to win Maxon over—and time is running out for America to decide.

Just when America is sure she’s made her choice, a devastating loss makes her question everything again. And while she’s struggling to imagine her future, the violent rebels that are determined to overthrow the monarchy are growing stronger and their plans could destroy her chance at any kind of happy ending.

WOOHOO! I got a free day. I'm so excited. I have read a lot and I will keep reading more today and tonight. I think I made a huge step. As you know, I challeged myself to read 15 books and hoped for 20, but as you can see, that cannot be completed. Or can I? For now, I'm saying no, but I dunno. Whatever, I made progress and that alone is motive to throw a party, would you go?

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself—and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

#ReadingCram - Day 11

So, yeah, I'm late again. But this time around, my shift end at 12am, so... Anyway, I can't make today's, or more like yesterday's, challenge because I do not own books with more than 4 words for title. I do not own too many books, period. My progress is lame, again, but something is something.

2013 End of the Year Book Survey!

This feature is hosted by the amazing The Perpetual Page Turner. PS. This post is VERY long!

1. Best Book You Read In 2013? (If you have to cheat — you can break it down by genre).
  • Adult Ficton - This Man, by: Jodi Ellen Malpas
  • Dystopian - The Program, by: Suzanne Young
  • Horror - Anna Dressed in Blood, by: Kendare Blake
  • Realistic Fiction - 4 to 16 characters, by: Kelly Hourihan
  • New Adult - Beautiful Disaster, by: Jamie McGuire
  • Fantasy - Sentinel, by: Jennifer L. Armentrout
  • Thirller - Full Exposure, by: Tracy Wolf
  • Middle Grade & Children's - House of Hades, by: Rick Riordan
  • YA Overall - Fangirl, by: Rainbow Rowell
  • Humor - Wallbanger, by: Alice Clayton
  • Science Fiction - Extras, by: Scott Westerfeld
  • Contemporary - Roomies, by: Tara Altebrando & Sara Zarr
2. Book You Were Excited About & Thought You Were Going To Love More But Didn’t?

Don't hate me, but its Allegiant, by Veronica Roth. I just didn't love it.

3. Most surprising (in a good way!) book of 2013?

I need to think about this... maybe I could say Sia, by Josh Grayson. I though it was going to be like a typical novel when the bitchy girl wants be good and all, but it didn't. It was more deep than that.

4. Book you read in 2013 that you recommended to people most in 2013?

Mostly, people don't ask me for recs, but when they do... I tend to ask first what they like and depends their answer I reply their quesion. I recommend the Grey Wolves series, by Quinn Loftis, a couple of times.

5. Best series you discovered in 2013?

So, so hard... I would say New Soul series, by Jodi Meadows. I love all of it and I can't wait to have in my hands the third and last book.

6. Favorite new author you discovered in 2013?

Obviously, Rainbow Rowell. She just rocked my world with Fangirl, but before that I read Eleanor & Park and Attachments too. Next year will be release Landline and I can't wait for it.

7. Best book that was out of your comfort zone or was a new genre for you?

Its not a science to know that I have never read an Horror book, but when I began Anna Dressed in Blood, I just couldn't stop myself to finish it and read the second book. It was not my comfort zone, because I don't like things that make me be scared.

8. Most thrilling, unputdownable book in 2013?

Hell! The Darkest Minds, by Alexandra Bracken, and then the second book, Never Fade. I just couldn't put them down. I finished them and wished to have an ARC for the next book.

9. Book you read in 2013 that you are most likely to re-read next year?

Clockwork Princess, by Cassandra Clare. I want to read the full trilogy again next year or maybe even before the year end. I always hope!

10. Favorite cover of a book you read in 2013?

Imaginary Girls, by Nova Ren Suma. The cover is just beautiful, that's why I bought the book. At the end, the book was not that wow, but the cover still beautiful and one of my faves.

11. Most memorable character in 2013?

Cath. From Fangirl, by Rainbow Rowell. She is not a super badass heroine or anything, but I love how she overcome everything. And somehow she was the inspiration of why I change from concentration in university. She make me saw things in me that I even know I had  in me. Thanks, Cath!

12. Most beautifully written book read in 2013?

The Night Circus, by Erin Morgenstern. That book breathes magic!

13. Book that had the greatest impact on you in 2013?

I would say Fangirl, but I prefer not to repeat unless necessary, so I choose this time Thirteen Reasons Why, by JayAsher. Somehow I knew how Hannah felt.

14. Book you can't believe you waited UNTIL 2013 to finally read?

Two books actually: Requiem, by Lauren Oliver & Clockwork Princess, by Cassandra Clare. Both of them were released in March and they were the end of the trilogy, so I was crosing my fingers that the mailman brought my books on time to read them.

15. Favorite quote from a book you read in 2013?

"I love you yesterday. I love you today. And if you'll let me I will love you tomorrow."
- Sia, Josh Grayson

16. Shortest & Longest books you read in 2013?

Shortest: A Beautiful Wedding, by Jamie McGuire [160 pages]*
Longest: Monsters of Men, by Patrick Ness [603 pages]

*I didn't count the short books, neither novellas*

17. Book that had a scene in it that had you reeling and dying to talk to somebody about it?

Oooh... the last scene of Layers Deep, by Lacey Skills. It was just... what the fuck?

18. Favorite Relationship From A Book You Read In 2013 (be it romantic, friendship, etc).

Romantic - Eleanor & Park relationship was the best one, from the book of the same name by Rainbow Rowell. It was so sweet and young. *le cries*
Friendship - From the series Grey Wolves, by Quinn Loftis, I choose the wonderful trio of Jacque, Jen and Sally. Those three would rather die than separete from themselves. Plus, they get in so many problems that sometimes have the three of them in the same room can be a risk, but worth it.
Mother & Daughter - The main charcter of the Akasha series (by Terra Harmony), Kaitlyn, show us in the last book, Earth, how far a mother can go to save the world for her daughter. Even stay away from her.
Boy & Dog - The perfect example would be Manchee and Todd, from The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness. Those two are basically inseparable, until well...

19. Favorite Book You Read in 2013 From An Author You’ve Read Previously

Well, I could mention some. First, The Betrayal of Natalie Hargrove, by Lauren Kate, I read it after I read her series Fallen, but I didn't like it that much. Second, the awesome author Lauren Oliver. I read first her book Before I Fall, then I continue with the Delirium series this year and no much long ago I read an ARC of Panic. And last, but nor least, John Green. Last year, I read two books and this year I read all the others.

20. Best Book You Read In 2013 That You Read Based SOLELY On A Recommendation From Somebody Else

I'm sad to say that I have not read such a book. I don't get recommendations to often, mostly I surf GoodReads and make my TBR list based in other people favorites lists.

21. Genre You Read The Most From in 2013?

Its very tied between Dystopian YA, Fantasy YA and Contemporary YA.

22. Newest Fictional Crush From a Book You Read in 2013?

Travis Maddox from Beautiful Disaster, by Jamie McGuirre.

23. Best 2013 Debut You Read?

I don't know if Rainbow Rowell books fits here, but they are definitely my favorites and she is not that old, as in publishing books. Attachments, Eleanor & Park and Fangirl are such perfect books.

24. Most Vivid World/Imagery in a Book You Read in 2013?

Rick Riordan books always transport me to those places, so I choose House of Hades.

25. Book That Was the Most Fun to Read in 2013?

Do you mean the book Wallbanger, by Alice Clayton? That book was pure humor and fun.

26. Book That Made You Cry or Nearly Cry in 2013?

I think that the answer is simply this book... Allegiant, by Veronica Roth.

27. Book You Read in 2013  That You Think Got Overlooked This Year or When It Came Out?

Somebody Up There Hates You, by Hollis Seamon.

1. One Book You Didn't Get To In 2013 But Will Be Your Number 1 Priority in 2014?

None. I always try to get into the book and if I don't, I never going to pick them up again.

2. Book You Are Most Anticipating For 2014 (non-debut)?

The last book of Shatter Me series, Ignite Me, by Tahereh Mafi.

3. 2014 debut you are most anticipating?

Landline, by Rainbow Rowell.

4. Series Ending You Are Most Anticipating in 2014?

City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments #6), by Cassandra Clare.

5. One Thing You Hope to Acomplish or do in Your Reading in 2014?

Read 200, and hoped for 300 books. Pretty crazy, right?

#ReadingCram - Day 10

I know, I know I'm late. But I got two good reasons. One, I was working and my shift end late than it was suppose to. And two, I was trying to make an step forward in the challenge, so I read the last pages of the book I was reading, which was Love, Rosie. My review is up! Now, now, my progress is...

Finished:
  • The Program, by Suzanne Young
  • A Beautiful Wedding, by Jamie McGuire
  • The Treatment, by Suzanne Young [ARC]
  • Panic, by Lauren Oliver [ARC]

  • Imaginary Girls, by Nova Ren Suma
  • Where She Went, by Gayle Forman
  • Love, Rosie, by Cecelia Ahern

You see? I made progress! Now the list looks long and it will looks longer tomorrow. You will see! So, what about your progress? Lame, OK or Excellent?

December 18, 2013
Today's, more like yesterday's, challenge is Post a Review!

Its as simple as it says! Just link a post of a book you read in 2013.

I choose...

Layers Deep, by Lacey Silks

Why this book? Because I love my review. It was perfect, so much that the same author like it and even ask me to use a part of it, giving me credit, but still. PLUS, I love the book and I wish to have the other books ASAP, because I can't wait more.

[R] Love, Rosie, by: Cecelia Ahern

Love, Rosie
by: Cecelia Ahern

★★★★★

Sometimes you have to look at life in a whole new way...

From the bestselling author of PS, I Love You comes a delightfully enchanting novel about what happens when two people who are meant to be together just can't seem to get it right.

Rosie and Alex are destined for one another, and everyone seems to know it but them. Best friends since childhood, their relationship gets closer by the day, until Alex gets the news that his family is leaving Dublin and moving to Boston. At 17, Rosie and Alex have just started to see each other in a more romantic light. Devastated, the two make plans for Rosie to apply to colleges in the U.S.

She gets into Boston University, Alex gets into Harvard, and everything is falling into place, when on the eve of her departure, Rosie gets news that will change their lives forever: She's pregnant by a boy she'd gone out with while on the rebound from Alex.

Her dreams for college, Alex, and a glamorous career dashed, Rosie stays in Dublin to become a single mother, while Alex pursues a medical career and a new love in Boston. But destiny is a funny thing, and in this novel, structured as a series of clever e-mails, letters, notes, and a trail of missed opportunities, Alex and Rosie find out that fate isn't done with them yet.

December 17, 2013
Today's challenge is Song Challenge!

Rule:
Pick any book you read in 2013 and choose a song(s) that best describes the book. You can even create a playlist if you want! Be sure to post links to songs (youtube, spotify, etc).

Actually this challenge is really hard for me, becuase when I read I always hear music. No matter. So I really have a list with all the songs with their books in my tumblr, you can see the list here.

I choose the book Eve, by Anna Carey. I read it in summer and of the triolgy my favorite was the first one.
The song that goes with it is Shelter, by Birdy. The song suits very accurate with the book and with the whole story of Eve and Caleb.

Lyrics [mostly the part I like] - Youtube
And I'll cross oceans like never before
So you can feel the way I feel it too
And I'll send images back at you
So you can see the way I feel it too
The song is outstanding and whenever I hear it, I remember the book!
What's yours?

When Adam gets stuck in New York by himself, chance brings the couple together again, for one last night. As they explore the city that has become Mia's home, Adam and Mia revisit the past and open their hearts to the future-and each other.

Told from Adam's point of view in the spare, lyrical prose that defined If I Stay, Where She Went explores the devastation of grief, the promise of new hope, and the flame of rekindled romance.

#ReadingCram - Day 8

What's up? I got sad news, I cannot make today's challenge, but I will post my lame progress in books. I'm really exahusted. Six days in a row working, plus staying late at night reading or texting is not good for me, but I still do it :). So, don't freak. I'm not giving out of the read-a-thon, I will not do this challenge. Plus I got no ideas of how to make a movie cast for a book.

Holy Cow! In your faces, guys. I'm still here doing this and I'm having fun. I'm sadly giving up a little day by day. I don't have so many time like I had before, but I'm still trying. #ReadingCram - Day 6

THE DAY IS NOT OVER YET! Don't freak... I haven't forget about today's challenge is that so many things happened today that I couldn't post early. But here I am... not giving up with the challenges. My progress with books, as in reading them, was very small, but I'm a step ahead.

My progress is...
Finished:
  • The Program, Suzanne Young
  • A Beautiful Wedding, Jamie McGuire [novella]
  • The Treatment, Suzanne Young [ARC]
  • Panic, Lauren Olvier [ARC]
  • If I Stay, Gayle Forman
Reading:
  • Imaginary Girls, Nova Ren Suma (163 pages into)
  • Where She Went, Gayle Forman (12 pages into)
So yeah, very small step, but a step is a step. I was awake yesterday (more like today) until 3am, to finish If I Stay and writting the review, which is posted already. I woke up like really late, at 2pm, and I was feeling so bad, as in sick. Then I worked from 6pm to 10:30pm and now I'm making this post. I hope to stay awake some time to read more of Where She Went, maybe even finish it. *crossing my fingers* Dreaming is free and without limits!

December 14, 2013
Today's challenge is Seasonal Challenge!
One Rule: it must be books that you read in 2013.

Recommend a book good for a snow day!
In my country, we don't have snow and if you have never seen it, then its likes it doens't exists. But I can relate a snow day, like a really cold day. So let's take it that way! A book worth to stay at home reading when its cold outside would be...
LET IT SNOW

Recommend a book good for a rainy day!
I live in a tropical island, so rain is an every day story. The book I will recommend, I read it in december 2012, but I re-read it in 2013 too. So it counts. AND it was raining both days!
LOOKING FOR ALASKA

Recommend a book good for a beach day!
As you know... tropical island means BEACH, so yeah I live surrond by water. My recommendation for a beach day is not normal, is an adult fiction and I do recommend it for the beach because I read it there. It was so hot and the book made me even more hotter.
FIFTY SHADES OF GREY

Recommend a book good for a spooky night!
I don't got for horror books, but I have read Anna Dressed in Blood books the other days and I love it. SO, thats my rec fo this question.
ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD

Hope you like them? Which ones would you recommend to me? I would love to see!
