"This book is for anyone who has ever lost a loved one, for anyone who has woken up crying and gone to bed the same way, for anyone who has had to learn that it's okay to be not okay. Surviving isn't strength, it's continuing to breathe one day at a time; strength is learning to live despite the pain."

[R] Bad Things, by: RK Lilley
Bad Things
(Tristan & Danika #1)
by: RK Lilley
★★★★☆
Danika hasn’t had an easy life. Being insanely attracted to bad boys has never helped make it easier.
One look at Tristan, and every brain cell she possessed went up in smoke. This man was trouble with a capital T. It was a given.
She knew better. Bad boys were bad. Especially for her. Considering her history, it was crazy to think otherwise. So why did crazy have to feel so damn fine?
For as long as she could remember, Danika had been focused on the future with single-minded purpose. Tristan came along and taught her everything there was to know about letting go, and living in the present. She fell, hard and deep. Of course, that only made her impact with the ground that much more devastating.

[Series Review] Happenstance, by: Jamie McGuire
by: Jamie McGuire
Overall: ★★★★☆
hap·pen·stance
/ˈhapənˌstans/
noun
coincidence."it was just happenstance that I happened to be there"
The whole story is in based a happenstance, which I define it as a happy coincidence. I knew the existence of these books before they were released, and I told myself (like every time) that when the series was completed, I was going to read it. Almost two years later, here I am. It was such a happenstance! I was looking for something sweet, romantic and with a happy ending. I got my wish. I keep telling myself that everything is a happy coincidence.I saw the books on my TBR pile on goodreads, and I thought why not. Then I read the blurb and everything clicked. I had to read it. I did and I got no regrets. I definitely like it. A lot. I even felt her annoyance about other people having your same name in your class. Erin Easter has always been bullied (another thing I can compare myself to) by Erin A. and Erin M. But that is not all. Once upon a time, they were the best friends and something happened that made them enemies. But Easter doesn't know. When a boy, named Weston, gets into the equation, everything changes. An horrible accident happens and we wonder if that, too, is a happy coincidence.
Later on, things become better (and worse) for Erin Easter. New boyfriend. New family. New life. But a LOT of secrets that want to tear her apart. Weston loves her. Like L-O-V-E-S her. I fell in love with him and all his speeches. They are swoon worthy! Graduation is near, College life is near and everything can change in a blink of an eye. What happens now? Well... another happy coincidence, of course!
I'm telling you, this story is full of coincidences. Some might been in favor of Easter, others not so much. I really loved the books. Maybe I wanted something a little bit longer and less faster, but overall it was a perfect read in time of need. You want something sweet and happy? Read these!

Endure
(Defy #3)
by: Sara B. Larson
★★★☆☆
At last, Alexa and King Damian are engaged to be married. But their lives are far from safe. The kingdom of Antion is under siege, and Rylan is a prisoner of the enemy. Even worse, Alexa remains at the mercy of the evil Dansiian Rafe, who controls her mind and can force Alexa to kill or harm Damian at any moment. Despite this, Alexa is determined to rescue Rylan, which soon leads her far from Damian and deep into enemy territory.
When she arrives, what awaits her is deadlier than anything she could have ever imagined: an army of black sorcerers, and a horrifying plot to destroy the world as Alexa knows it. Grounded
(Up in the Air #3)
by: RK Lilley
★★★★☆
James and Bianca’s story draws to a close in the explosive conclusion to the Up In The Air Trilogy.
After a short but earnest courtship, Bianca can no longer deny her feelings for James, and though she’s tried her hardest, she can’t help but see that he cares deeply for her, as well. In a completely uncharacteristic move, she has put aside her misgivings and agreed to live with the enigmatic billionaire. Is her leap of faith the beginning of something wonderful, or is it too much, too fast?
As James and Bianca feel a growing need for each other that neither can deny, circumstances beyond their control intervene, trying to tear them apart. Amidst the ever mounting threat of a monster who wants Bianca dead, and the constant pitfalls of an indiscreet past that James can’t seem to escape, can these two passionate lovers manage to find their happily ever after?

[R] Mile High, by: RK Lilley
Mile High
(Up in the Air #2)
by: RK Lilley
★★★★½
James and Bianca’s tumultuous story continues in the sequel to In Flight.
James has initiated Bianca into a dark and drugging world of passion and pain. He taught her about her own submissive, masochistic nature, and she fell swiftly and deeply in love with the undeniably charming and impossibly beautiful Mr. Cavendish, but a painful misunderstanding and the return of the brutally violent demon of her past have combined to overwhelm Bianca, and, confused and hurt, she pushes him away.
It’s been over a month since the shocking attack that hospitalized her, and since she told a distraught James that she needed space, but her feelings haven’t gone away. Even she knew that it was only a matter of time before he would cast his spell on her again…

In Flight
(Up in the Air #1)
by: RK Lilley
★★★★½
When reserved flight attendant Bianca gets one look at billionaire hotel owner James Cavendish, she loses all of her hard-won composure. For a girl who can easily juggle a tray of champagne flutes at 35,000 feet in three inch heels, she finds herself shockingly weak-kneed from their first encounter. The normally unruffled Bianca can't seem to look away from his electrifying turquoise gaze. They hold a challenge, and a promise, that she finds impossible to resist, and she is a girl who is used to saying no and meaning it.
Bianca is accustomed to dealing with supermodels and movie stars in her job as a first class flight attendant, but James Cavendish puts them all to shame in the looks department. If only it were just his looks that she found so irresistible about the intimidating man, Bianca could have ignored his attentions. But what tempts her like never before is the dominant pull he seems to have over her from the moment they meet, and the promise of pleasure, and pain, that she reads in his eyes.

Kiss of Broken Glass
by: Madeleine Kuderick
★★★★★
In the next 72 hours, Kenna may lose everything—her friends, her freedom, and maybe even herself. One kiss of the blade was all it took to get her sent to the psych ward for 72 hours. There she will face her addiction to cutting, though the outcome is far from certain.
When fifteen-year-old Kenna is found cutting herself in the school bathroom, she is sent to a facility for a mandatory psychiatric watch. There Kenna meets other kids like her—her roommate, Donya, who's there for her fifth time; the birdlike Skylar; and Jag, a boy cute enough to make her forget her problems . . . for a moment.
Madeleine Kuderick's gripping debut is a darkly beautiful and lyrical novel in verse, perfect for fans of Sonya Sones and Laurie Halse Anderson. Kiss of Broken Glass pulses with emotion and lingers long after the last page.

Sweet Nothing
by: Jamie McGuire & Teresa Mummert
★★★★★
It is enough to break any man: watching what could have been my future slip away before it was ever in my grasp. The possibility of losing someone I loved, before she was even mine, is something I never would have imagined. Certainly nothing I'd ever wish on anyone. I go to her every day and wait. Wait for the impossible, for a sign, for her to look at me ... hoping sinners are granted miracles, too.
Just one glimpse of him was all it took. In the next lane, at a stop light, was the man I would fall in love with and marry. People talk about the kind of love that takes time--love you fall in to. We were more like a crash and burn, and when our lives intertwined I would never be the same. He was the man I would cherish the rest of my life, who would father my children. In an instant our life together began, and in an instant it would end. The late nights; the excuses; the lies. And in the blink of an eye, it was like we never were.
