Thursday Tracks [89]

Ohhh! You know, and if you don't you'll know now, that I LOVE, love, LoVe music. Just as I live and breathe words, I live and breathe music. Those two things are just part of me as any other organ in my body. As you can see in my Music page, I hear music while reading! My Thursdays are dedicated to music thanks to this feature! Created to share what song, album, playlist, artist I got stuck in my head every week.
Now, this week song is...

SOMEONE TO STAY

Artist: Vancouver Sleep Clinic

favorite part of the lyrics: Will you fix me up? Will you show me hope? The end of the day, I'm helpless. Can you keep me close? Can you love me most?

Hear me next Thursday!

Top Ten Bookish Worlds I'd Never Want to Live In

PANEM in The Hunger Games
No, thank you. Divided by districts, ruled by an arrogant a-hole and I might be "reaped" to be in a game in where I can die? Do NOT sign me up for that shit.

Divergent
Again with the divisions... I said, no. Thank you. You cannot define me in one of those factions and I'm hell sure do not want to be factionless. I'll just not be part of this world.

Delirium
Love is a big part of what I am as a person if you remove that from me... I might as well be a robot. So, again, no.

The Maze Runner
First, I wouldn't make it into the cut into the Glade. I'm not special enough. Second, I would die basically the day after hitting the Maze. Third, I would definitely not survive the Scorch Trials or the Death Cure. This world is too much for me, so I'll pass.

Darkest Minds
I am being held against my will because I got some special power that you don't? HELL NAH. I will revolt against that, but at the same time I don't want to be followed and everything that comes with it. The powers would be good to have, but the rest? No, thanks.

The 5th Wave
Aliens? No, I'll pass.

OASIS in Ready Player One
This kind of technology is cool and all, but have you thought about the real world? It is a disaster and that is a world I don't want to live in. How fucked up the world has to be so someone wants to be connected to a machine the whole day?

Not a Drop to Drink
I will seriously die without water, so bye.

Warm Bodies
Zombies? Double no.

The Testing
You wanna go to college and get an education? Cool, you have to pass this test. You might have to kill some people though. Oh, and at the end even if you pass you might not get into a field that you actually like to study. So I'll definitely pass this world completely.

What worlds would you say "hell no" to?

Emporium

FURYBORN

When assassins ambush her best friend, the crown prince, Rielle Dardenne risks everything to save him, exposing her ability to perform all seven kinds of elemental magic. The only people who should possess this extraordinary power are a pair of prophesied queens: a queen of light and salvation and a queen of blood and destruction. To prove she is the Sun Queen, Rielle must endure seven trials to test her magic. If she fails, she will be executed...unless the trials kill her first.

A thousand years later, the legend of Queen Rielle is a mere fairy tale to bounty hunter Eliana Ferracora. When the Undying Empire conquered her kingdom, she embraced violence to keep her family alive. Now, she believes herself untouchable--until her mother vanishes without a trace, along with countless other women in their city. To find her, Eliana joins a rebel captain on a dangerous mission and discovers that the evil at the heart of the empire is more terrible than she ever imagined.

As Rielle and Eliana fight in a cosmic war that spans millennia, their stories intersect, and the shocking connections between them ultimately determine the fate of their world--and of each other.

Waiting on Wednesday [139]

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating. This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

SAVE THE DATE

by: Morgan Matson
Publication Date: June 5th, 2018
Genre: Contemporary, Young Adult

Charlie Grant’s older sister is getting married this weekend at their family home, and Charlie can’t wait—for the first time in years, all four of her older siblings will be under one roof. Charlie is desperate for one last perfect weekend, before the house is sold and everything changes. The house will be filled with jokes and games and laughs again. Making decisions about things like what college to attend and reuniting with longstanding crush Jesse Foster—all that can wait. She wants to focus on making the weekend perfect.

The only problem? The weekend is shaping up to be an absolute disaster.

There’s the unexpected dog with a penchant for howling, house alarm that won’t stop going off, and a papergirl with a grudge.

There are the relatives who aren’t speaking, the (awful) girl her favorite brother brought home unannounced, and a missing tuxedo.

Not to mention the neighbor who seems to be bent on sabotage and a storm that is bent on drenching everything. The justice of the peace is missing. The band will only play covers. The guests are all crazy. And the wedding planner’s nephew is unexpectedly, distractingly…cute.

Over the course of three ridiculously chaotic days, Charlie will learn more than she ever expected about the family she thought she knew by heart. And she’ll realize that sometimes, trying to keep everything like it was in the past means missing out on the future.
